Topstar X-Pander Design Swivel Chair : It was a bargain, and the chair appears to be worth the money I spent for it

After some research, i chose this manufacturer and model – not disappointed so far. Easy to assemble and looks good too. I work from home, so sat in this chair for 10+hours a day – comfortable, cool and good looking. Glad i chose the cushioned armrests, didn’t realise how much i lean on my left elbow. Castors area for hard floors – while mine has carpet tiles. Somewhat more resistant to slide around, but i need encouragement to get out of the chair sometimes.

So far so good, not like the rubbish chairs ive had in past, very simple assemble, and sturdy and comfortable. Here are the specifications for the Topstar X-Pander Design Swivel Chair:

  • Backrest with a breathable mesh cover and elatic tapes
  • Flat seat with bolster for knees
  • Point-synchro-mechanism
  • Height adjustable “T2(OPA)” armrests, with soft arm pads and width adjustable via bolting
  • Polished aluminium base

Absolutely amazing chair, although i did buy at an insanely low price you can tell this chair is something special.

People think i’m crazy rolling down the high street in my hi-viz chair. I don’t care what they think – i’m living life 2 tha maxx.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • It was a bargain, and the chair appears to be worth the money I spent for it
  • Elegant, Comfortable, Functional
  • Good, but expensive

The packaging proudly proclaims ‘made in germany’ and the chair is high-quality as you would expect. Assembly is straight-forward, the only real difficulty i had was in attaching the castors which needed a bit of wiggling to get in. The substantial arms are adjustable for height but they are adjustable for width by bolts into the chair, maximum width is 60cm across the arm centres, approx 52cm internal, adjustment 4cm narrower. The chair is comfortable for long periods, the seat is firm, not a chair to wallow in, this is a chair for working in. Style is business-like, almost minimalistic, it is also expensive. It comes fitted with castors suitable for carpeted floors with a warning to change them for hard floors.

I’ve bought this chair for my daughter and it looks quite big, so i was a bit concerned that it would be too big for her room. However in reality it’s smaller than it looks and overall very comfortable and solid. Downside is that it’s very heavy so transporting it in one piece is a challenge. All in all i am pleased with this purchase.

It was a bargain, and the chair appears to be worth the money i spent for it. The seat unfortunately is not adjustable in depth and slope nevertheless it is still comfortable.

      1. There are better chairs for long hours at a desk. I spent quite a bit of time looking at chairs for the home office and the topstar brand seemed to come up often with mainly positive reviews. I wanted a chair with arms with adjustable height (which this has) as well as a polished base. I also wanted a traditional square back rather than the pear shape with headrest type that seems to be popular. To be fair this chair is comfortable and looks quite smart however for somebody (like me) who spends at least 7 and half hours a day working on the computer it doesn’t seem flexible enough. The back rest really only locks in two positions, one being more or less 90 degrees to the base cushion and the other leaning forward slightly. I really need a chair that has “continuous” adjustment in the back rest, by that i mean a mechanim that when released adjusted and then locked will “freeze” the back rest in that exact position rather than lock it in the next nearest available “slot” if that makes sense. The mesh type back although stylish and smart to me isn’t as comfortable as the traditional foam style. For these reasons i elected to return the chair and yodel are coming to collect it tomorrow. Its actually quite a bit of work to disassemble the chair, and unfortunately the last step of removing the gas pipe from the polished base requires hitting the polished legs with a hammer (as per topstar’s instructions on their website).

Elegant, comfortable, functional. Packagingas per the product description, this item does come partially assembled with only the assembly of the major pieces required. As a result, the cardboard box in which the pieces are delivered is generous to say the least; handy for anyone with a pet hippopotamus that meets an untimely end, but awkward to dispose of for everyone else. It does, however, protect the chair pieces brilliantly and that’s what matters. I hadn’t heard of this brand prior to getting this product, but even before you open the box you’re reassured by the made in germany stamp that (nearly always) ensures high build-quality. That is immediately confirmed upon unwrapping the chair sections and not necessarily from a design point of view, although the design is superb, but by the weight- this is not a flimsy chair, this is a sturdy piece of manufacturing. Most of the steps in the assembly process take less than five minutes in all to complete.
