So comfy, fairly easy to construct. Construction: the parts of the chair are all well protected in the box, so expect to spend 5 minutes unwrapping everything (the padding inside is recyclable, which is better than use of polystyrene, of course. The pictures are fairly straightforward, the arms are not obvious at first but with help from my son to steady the chair it was ok. The wheels took a bit of effort to get in (the instructions say a bit of lubricant could be used). The rest of the bits just clipped together quite easily (i didn’t hear a klik when the back went in but it doesn’t seem to have mattered). Time to build: 15 minutes including all the unwrapping. (note there are left and right stickers under the arms in german)in use: the chair can be adjusted in a number of ways. The seat can be raised quite high (very smooth gas action), i am just over 6 feet and my legs were dangling. You can also lean the back back, fixed or moving. The arms move up and down with some little twisty knobs on the outside of each one (nice action again).
When i opened this up and started to assemble the chair i was very impressed. Arm rests, heavy chromed affairs looking very solid and functional. However as i assembled the chair i came across a raft of issues:roller legs. The rollers are stiff and jammed up and don’t roll freely at all. The rollers don’t fit into the pedastil very wellthe instructions don’t reflect the assembly requiredthe bolt holes that are pre-screwed are not good quality which means the screw threads feel like they are crossed up when they are not. The back rest feels flimsy and un-yieldingthe seat is hard.
Having, in the past, bought cheap office chairs and always being disappointed by them, when this opportunity came up to try something more substantial, i leapt at the chance. So here is my review – the first thing you notice about it is the weight. Substantial comes to mind, well made with lots of solid metal, welded not screwed. Putting it together was a doddle until i had to fit the arms. Don’t get me wrong, the arms were not difficult in any way, but as the rest of the chair just ‘slotted’ together, the arms were more complicated to fit. They needed three screws each using the supplied allen keys. The chair itself is comfortable, but not too comfortable – meaning it is not soft on the bottom or back, but rather it aims to ‘fit’ the user. This makes it ideal for long sessions at the computer or whatever. Both arms are adjustable, meaning they go up and down. The chair arrives in a massive box that even the courier, relieved to find me in, had trouble carrying and moving about. It’s a flat pack (even to the extent of inserting the casters) best unpacked from wherever the courier might helpfully place it. The components are well packed with expanded foam protecting key components and several bags of shredded cardboard padding; a checklist is provided so you can ensure everything is present before embarking on assembly. • overall finishthe first thing that struck me about the chair was that the component parts did not seem particularly well finished. The underside of the base (admittedly not on view) was particularly poor but the top area into which the gas mechanism is inserted is covered only by a moulded piece of chrome coloured plastic, which didn’t quite look right. The fabric chosen for the seat and back seems to be of a reasonable quality although the plastic components feel on the flimsy side, up to the job but not as good as i would expect for a chair with this rrp. • ease of assemblythe chair requires full self-assembly and in the box you should have the chrome base, a moulded plastic chrome shield, five casters, gas mechanism and cover, seat, back, two arm rests and a bag of screws, washers and spacers. I am not normally fazed by flat packs and can normally put them together with relative ease; in this case even inserting the casters took an enormous effort and around 30 minutes alone to complete after two of the five absolutely refused to fit even after lubrication. Note after assembly of the base, the instructions become slightly vague and minimal guidance is provided for attaching the arm rests.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Well made, comfortable in use, albeit a few ergonomic issues. The assembly instructions are woefully inadequate.
- Reliable and Comfortable
- Decent office chair
An expensive but comfortable office/typist chair. On opening the box the chair looked to be very well packed which is always a good start. I had to get my husband to “dictate” the review as he is the one who usually puts things together. He said the instructions were not the best he’d ever read but it gave at least some idea of where the bits were supposed to go. When building things like this i tend to open the packets and make sure all of the pieces described in the instructions are actually in the box. They were and of good quality too. Having done this before, the chair was fairly straightforward to assemble. If you’re new to these things then i would suggest you proceed carefully and take time to get all the bits in the right place. The two allen keys that were provided were also of reasonable quality. The chair has most of the usual adjustments for height, back rest height and the lock to stop the chair reclining is secure and easy to operate. The arms are well made and easily adjustable for height. All in all the chair is comfortable and a good office or typist chair, if a little too expensive (the reason for the four stars).
Well made, comfortable in use, albeit a few ergonomic issues. The assembly instructions are woefully inadequate. . Took me 25 minutes to assemble (it arrives well packaged but in bits). It comes with a couple of allen keys, which are all that is required. The assembly instructions are poor. My advice would be:1/ get everything out, unpacked and visible. Get another chair (a dinner chair without arms)2/ mount the the wheels into the 5 spokes. I used a bit of vaseline to help them go in – it took a bit of force. 3/ put the plastic ‘chrome’ cover over the center of the spokes. 4/ put the seat upside down on the chair you got earlier.
